Cambridge Heritage Day 2012
A Civil War Reenactment
Saturday, June 30th and Sunday July 1st
www.historic-cambridge.org

Experience the 2nd year of the Civil War in a small Midwestern town.

Many Wisconsin soldiers had fought and died by the spring of 1862. Put yourself in the shoes of men, women and children of Cambridge during those early days of the war. Experience the hopes and fears that were in the air as Cambridge received news from local men off fighting for their country.

You’re invited to witness this living history event commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War. You’ll see Union Soldiers practicing their drills, wives of Company K and town’s people in period dress. Meet General Grant and Mrs. Grant, shake hands with President Lincoln and hear about life in the White House from Mary Todd Lincoln. Listen to songs of the Civil War, attend a Victorian dance and hear the roar of cannon fire from Cushing’s Battery.

Other events include a pancake breakfast, rendezvous outdoor market, food booths, Civil War authors, touring the Historic School Museum and the 5th graders Civil War Wax Museum. From the opening ceremony in Cambridge Veterans Park to the camp buglers taps at days-end, the event is historical, educational and fun for your whole family.
